IEM Katowice 2023: Furia, Pain and Mi will represent azil in the competition.
ESL announced on Monday (19) the 24 IEM Katowice 2023 participating teams from CS: GO, Valve's first major FPS event next season. azil will have three representatives in all: Curia, semifinalist at IEM Rio Major 2023, Pain Gaming and MIR, which secured a place via ESL world ranking. The three azilian teams will need to play the Play-in, the event entry phase that has 16 participants and will give the last 8 vacancies in the main key of the event. One of CS's largest and most traditional events, IEM Katowice is considered, alongside IEM COLOGNE, the main Valve FPS competition after the Majors.
The 2023 edition of the event will be played from January 31 to Feuary 12, with a total prize of US $1 million. The event champion earns the $400,000 prize and guarantees a direct place at IEM COLOGNE 2023. IEM Katowice's play-in phase will be played from January 31 to Feuary 2, in double elimination format. Opening matches are played in MD1 series, and all others follow the MD3 format, with 8 of the 16 teams advancing to the group stage. The group stage takes place from Feuary 2 to 5, with two groups of 8 teams and all matches being played in MD3 series. The double elimination format is also adopted at this stage and only the top 3 places advance to playoffs. The final phase of the competition, which will be played at Spoken Arena in Poland, takes place between Feuary 10 and 12 and will follow the simple elimination format.
The first places of groups A and B advance directly to the semifinals, while the seconds and third places are seen in the quarterfinals.
